The Canoe Foundation are pleased to announce that works on the Hoveton Wetlands to spruce up access to the Hoveton Nature Trail for paddlers to enjoy is now complete. The Foundation part funded the project with a grant of £3,500.
The completed work includes a brand new mooring and access point at the Hoveton wetlands which is now available to use through the season. The addition of the new pontoon means increased SUP, canoe and kayak activity can take place at the wetlands and opens up a wildlife haven to many in the area. If you don’t own your own craft, you can also hire a canoe at the nearby Salhouse Broads to make use of the fantastic trail.
The project to install the access point has been part of a large scale restoration project at Hoveton Broad, in conjunction with Natural England.
“We are really delighted by the new canoe mooring at the Hoveton Nature Trail,” Chris Terry from Natural England said. “This will mean many more visitors will be able to access our walking trail and experience the peace and tranquility that only nature can give. All paddling is extremely popular on the Norfolk Broads. We very much hope this new pontoon will encourage more to come and see us.
“This additional mooring facility would not have been possible without the Canoe Foundation. We are very grateful to them for supporting us financially as well as all the work they do to increase the access and support for paddlers.
“We look forward to welcoming you to the Hoveton Nature Trail in 2022! (Open April to October, 7 days a week).” Find out more about visiting Hoveton Broad here.
